Bubblegum Crisis fanfiction The lion's share of my fanfiction writing has been associated with the Bubblegum Crisis OAV series. It's where I got my start, some years ago, and it's still where most of my efforts go. Descriptions of these stories can be found on their respective pages, what is here is more in the vein of my own thougths on each of them. Bubblegum Crisis has always appealed to me for a lot of reasons. I like the characters, for one. Also, it has a certain recurring theme of hope even in a darkened world which appeals to me in a way that I can't quite put to words. I've written several BGC fanfics over the years, some better than others. A glance through this section probably says as much about the development of my writing style as anything else... the more recent works (Cry of the Phoenix, "Ten") are significantly better, in my opinion, than the older ones... Bubblegum Collision was my first fanfic, and the first piece of writing that I ever showed to anyone but a few friends and family. It shows, I fear. Still, I like the story even with its flaws, and you might find it worth reading. It's sequel, Bubblegum Collapse, is without a doubt the darkest and most depressing thing I've ever written, and a part of me regrets ever having put it to the page. Still, I did write it, and for now at least I'm keeping all my completed fanfiction on this page, so here it is. Cry of the Phoenix was originally born out of my desire to go back and do all the things right that I did wrong in producing Bubblegum Collision. Somehwere along the way, though, it became much more. The story has grown in the telling, and grown on my mind. I started writing it almost five years ago, however, and several things prompted me to go back and rewrite the early chapters from the beginning. I'm still in the process of that... the chapters you can find here are the rewritten ones, and new chapters will be added as they are completed. (Don't worry, it's proceeding MUCH faster this time around!) Finally, "Ten" is something of an oddity for me. I don't usually write short stories... most of my ideas are more of the long, sweeping variety. This story was conceived several years ago for possible entry into the AnimeFEST! fanfiction contest. It took two years for me to actually get around to writing it, but I think the wait was worth it. This is, in my opinion, my best work, at least until Phoenix is done. And the best part is, it only takes a few minutes to read. I do recommend you check it out. |
