I don't usually write short stories. Most of my work is on the large scale...
I like epic fiction, and I tend to find myself trying to write epic fiction.
I'll not be presumptuous enough to claim I succeed, but the fact is, most
of the stories I write, especially recently, are LONG. Sometimes, though,
I get an idea that can be quickly put to the page, but still has enough hold
on me to compel me to write it.
I also don't usually write video game fanfiction. In fact, this will be
my first go at it. However, there was something about Soulcalibur II that
struck me. I don't know why, it doesn't have the most developed or deepest
story of any game I've played... it is what it is, and what it is is a fighting
game. It definitely isn't an RPG. And yet, the characters intrigue me...
and as I was playing the game with some friends during AnimeFEST! 2003, I
found the characters working their way into my heads. It started with Cassandra,
and a flash of what must have been going through her mind as she started
out on her quest, and that's the first one, which I have now written... there
will be one of these per character, for most of the characters in the game,
written as I have the spare time to produce them. I hope you enjoy reading
them as much as I am writing them so far.
